3-Day Nainital Itinerary

Day 1:

Mode of Transportation: Booking cabs is not a problem in Nainital. Hiring a cab for each day will serve the purpose.

Highest Point of Nainital

10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Your itinerary must begin with the Naini Peak.

This is a standpoint from where you get the bird’s-eye view of Nainital town and the Himalayan Range. An ideal place for photo shoots. To get here, a 1.5-km easy trek is what you have to endure.

Time duration: 30 – 45 mins

Post this, take a stroll along the Kilbury Road.

Kilbury Road has multiple viewpoints that offer breath-taking sceneries of the high altitude mountains. Himalaya Darshan and Nainital Viewpoints are two prominent locations along the road.

Time duration: 45 min – 1 hour

If hungry, Café Chica offers mouth-watering Continental delicacies. Stop by for some brunch and carry on with your expedition. The place costs around Rs. 700 – 800 for two.

Natural Affair

01:00 PM – 05:00 PM

Next attraction is the St. John’s in the Wilderness Church

The church is almost 5 km from Nainital Viewpoint. The church is the oldest in Nainital and an architectural marvel. Sitting on the lap of nature, the church has a tranquil and serene environment which can be enjoyed as long as you want.

Time duration: 30 – 45 mins

If travelling with children then you must pay a visit at the Eco Cave Gardens

Eco Cave Gardens is less than 1 km from St John’s Church. It is newly built especially to entertain visitors of smaller age group. The caves inside the garden as in the various shapes and sizes and mostly take the form of animals.

Time duration: 45 min – 1 hour

The final spot for the day is Tiffin Top

Tiffin Top is known for forest of colossal deodar trees. Horse rides are available for easily reaching the spot. The horse ride takes almost 30 min an it is recommended. The trail is always wet which makes it quite difficult for trekking. During winter, the forest gets completely covered with snow, giving a surreal feeling.

Evening Tour

08:00 PM – 11:00 PM

After this, head towards your hotel for some rest and later head out to roam along the Mall Road. Barge in any bakery, restaurant or pub that suits your mood. Almost every outlet along the Mall Road is very popular and has good ratings and reviews.

Day 2:

Cable Car Ride

11:00 AM – 01:00 PM

Your day today begins with a ropeway ride to the Snow Viewpoint

The viewpoint has many activities and rides to keep the children engaged. During winter season, the place is covered with thick ice and shouldn’t be missed. Shutterbugs will find themselves busy with the spectacular views. The ropeway takes around 10 mins.

Time duration: 1 – 1.5 hour

If feeling hungry, you can try multitude of food at Pots and Stones Café or Sakley’s Restaurant, on your way out of the ropeway station. The price range for both are Rs. 1100 – 1300 for two.

Blessings and Boats

02:00 PM – 06:00 PM

Naina Devi Temple is the most revered temple in Nainital.

The town got its name from the Goddess Naina Devi and Lake beside which the temple stands. Every tourist makes multiple visits and seek her blessings. You can also attend the evening aarti.

Time duration: 45 min – 1 hour

The next attraction is boating at Naini Lake.

Naini Lake has lots and lots of boats for you to choose. The prices depend on type of boat and length you want to cover. Boating in the evening is recommended for the best experience.

Time duration: 1 – 1.5 hours

After this, head towards Thandi Sadak, hustle and bustling area of town. Indulge in some street food and shop for traditional souvenirs and call it a day.

Day 3:

In two days, all the tourist attraction in Nainital can be easily covered. Third day is reserved for adventurous activities which are far off from the town. The choice has to be made between 2 options:

Option 1: Wildlife safari at Jim Corbett National Park (70 km)

Option 2: Paragliding and Mountain Biking at Bhimtal (30 km)

Let’s see them one by one.

Option 1: Wildlife Safari

09:00 AM – 08:00 PM

Jim Corbett National Park is usually visited via Nainital. Ramnagar is 70 km from Nainital and takes 1.5 hours. The evening safari begins at 02:00 PM and lasts till 06:00 PM. You can be back at your hotel by dinner time easily.
