3-Day South Goa Itinerary

Day 1:

Mode of Transport for the trip: Rent a self-driven car or any two wheeler as per your convenience. Every hotel owners have a good network of people who provides vehicles to their customers on demand.

You can find some dealers at Panaji bus stand as well. If possible can make an arrangement en route.

Heritage and Sandy beach Expedition

10:00 AM – 03:00 PM

Ideal way to start your South Goa trip is to understand its history at Big Foot Museum

Big Foot Museum has been established with a vision of highlighting Goan tradition and culture. A unique kind of museum set amidst lush green landscape in Loutolim. The artistic sculptures showcase the way of life of native people and have a mesmerizing effect on the viewers.

Time duration: 1 – 1.5 hours

After indulging in the history of Goa, you now chill at Colva Beach.

Undoubtedly the most famous beach on South Goa’s coast line, Colva beach is the place which is thronged by tourists. Beach shacks, shops, water sports everything can be enjoyed here to stay engaged and spending long hours on this beach is a norm amongst tourists. Colva beach is one of the two sought-after beaches in South Goa. So get a shack for your pack and bask in the Sun!

Time duration: 3 – 4 hours

Sunset Fort and a Local Market

04:00 PM – 06:00 PM

As the evening sets in, put Cabo de Rama Fort on your GPS and enjoy your ride.

Cabo de Rama Fort is 30 km from Colva and takes around an hour to get there. The fort is a landmark and has immense historical significance. The ruins of canon inside the fort were once property of the Portuguese. The fort was a place to house the prisoners and now it’s a tourist spot. The reason why you should plan to visit in the evening to capture the best view of the sunset. The fort is a perfect vantage point. Entry is allowed till 05:30 PM.

Time duration: 45 min – 1 hour

Post sunset, head back to your hotel and get ready to live up the night.

Music, Food & Party!

08:00 PM – 12:00 AM

Colva is a popular place for party animals. Boomerang Beach Restaurant and Bar is the most sought-after place to hang out and the price range for meals here is Rs 1500 – 2000 for two.

For a reasonable price range, look at 49ers Restaurant & Pub.

Day 2:

Home to Olive Ridley Turtles

10:00 AM – 11:00 AM

Today’s itinerary begins with a visit to the hidden gem of South Goa, Galgibaga Beach.

Galgibaga beach is approx. 50 km from Colva, so you must start early. The striking of the beach is that you will not find any shack and the reason being the beach is nesting ground of Olive Ridley Turtles. The beach is protected and breeding of turtle is part of the conservation program. Many tourists are not allowed and if you can manage to make an early morning visit, you can get some glimpse of the turtles and their eggs. January and February are the two months when the chances of turtle sighting are the highest.

Time duration: 45 min – 1 hour

Beach, Beaches and more Beaches…

12:00 PM – 05:00 PM

Next beach to explore is Palolem Beach, 10 km north of Galgibaga beach.

Palolem beach was India’s 5th and Asia’s 18th best beach. You can spend almost an entire day on this beach. Boating, stalls, restaurants, bars, the beach has got everything you can wish for. Palolem beach is another sought-after beach in South Goa, after Colva. So get a shack as soon as you get here.

Ferry services to Butterfly beach and Honeymoon beach can be availed from Paloloem beach. The round trip will take 1 hour.

Number of options for having your lunch in Palolem is plenty and due to large number of international tourists’ arrival, the area is known for serving cuisines from all over the world.

Time duration: 4 – 5 hours

Sunset Beach

05:30 PM – 07:00 PM

Agonda Beach is much quieter and has lesser crowd.

10 km from Palolem beach, Agonda beach is a perfect place to wind up a long day with beautiful sceneries of sunset. The beach has no shacks and thus the beach is not preferred amongst tourists. A walk along the coast line with the serene and secluded ambiance leaves a long lasting effect and you feel rejuvenated.

Time duration: 1 – 1.5 hours

Party in the Jungle

08:00 PM – 10:00 PM

Leopard Valley is a peculiar party venue in the lap of nature (Opens only on Friday).

5 km from Agonda beach, entrance in the Leopard Valley begins at 08:00 PM and the parties go on till 04:00 AM. This is the only well-known place for clubbing and often a targeted by the police. It is advised not to stay beyond mid-night.

Head back to your hotel and call it a day.

Day 3:

Into the Nature

08:00 AM – 06:00 PM

Today’s attractions are located on the hills of the Western Ghats and 1st place to visit is the famous Dudhsagar Falls.

Dudhsagar waterfalls has gained prominence over last few years because of its breath-taking landscape. Getting here is a challenge.  First, reach Mollem which takes 1.5 hours from Colva (50 km.) There onwards you have to book a tour operator’s jeep which will take to the Dudhsagar falls. It takes around 50 minutes. Once you get there, the view of the majestic waterfalls makes all your effort worth for it.

Time duration: 3 hours (including Jeep rides)

After this you head towards Salaulim Dam.

The dam is 40 km from Dudhsagar Falls and takes 1 hour. The dam is a man-made wonder. The dam is has a duckbill spill way and that is what tourists come to see here. The views of the lush green covered terrain on one side and on the other a calm and pristine reservoir.

 Time duration: 1 hour

The last attraction is Netravali Bubbling Lake.

The lake is 3 to 4 centuries year old and is known for a unique phenomenon of popping bubbles. This phenomenon is hardly seen anywhere. The lake is situated beside an ancient temple. Entry is not allowed after 06:00 PM.

Time duration: 30 min.

Your return journey will take another 1.5 hours from here.
