Diu

About Diu

Diu Town was a prime Portuguese colony during the 16th century due to its strategic location and the Diu Fortress is a testimony to that. However, the town still needs to make a mark on India’s tourism map.

Tourists and travelers include Diu in their itinerary when planning to take a safari ride at Gir National Forest or seek blessings at the Shree Somnath Jyotirlinga Temple. That’s why you often come across the tour circuit of Gir-Diu-Somnath.

The small town has a lot to offer to its visitors with its colonial heritage and landmarks, serene and secluded beaches, unique museums, and some authentic cuisine.

Hindi, Gujarati, English and even Portuguese are spoken in this region.

When to Travel?

Being a beach town, best time to visit Diu is November to February. Temperature remains below 30o C and rainfall is almost nil.
