Your first destination to explore in Jaisalmer has to be the Jaisalmer Fort.

Being the primary attraction, the fort can be easily reached. It was declared as an UNESCO World Heritage Site in the year 2013 and is known to be more than 800 years old. It takes almost 2 hours to take a complete tour of the fort. History buffs and architecture lovers will surely spend more time than that.

Time duration: 2 – 2.5 hours

Mode of Transport: Auto ride.

You will find plenty of eateries and restaurants around the fort. Some of the prominent places to have your meal are Pakwan Restaurant and Thakur Ji Restaurant. They serve Rajasthani cuisines prepared in the best possible way.

Unique Ancient Lake and Sunset

02:00 PM – 07:00 PM

2 km from the fort is the famous Gadisagar Lake.

The lake shares a similar folklore like that of the fort but what blows your mind is the archway that is artistic and majestic in true sense. The views surrounding the lake are captivating and photographers will find themselves very busy here. Boats are available for tourists and the charges will depend on the size of the boat.

Time duration: 1.5 – 2 hours

Mode of Transport: Auto ride.

After this, you head towards Bara Bagh to enjoy the sunset.

9 km from Gadisagar Lake, Bara Bagh is a 200-year old temple complex. It is famous for its Chhatri Cenotaphs. You must stay here till sunset. Sunset in Jaisalmer is always unique and has an enchanting effect on the viewers.

Time duration: 1 – 1.5 hours

Mode of Transport: Book an Auto or a cab for a round trip.

Head back to your hotel and call it a day.
