Rose Garden and Museum visit

First spot has to be the Zakir Hussain Rose Garden, to give your trip a perfect start.

It is known to be the largest rose garden in Asia. It has countless varieties of not only roses but many herbs and plants that are used for medicinal purposes. The display of flowers, lawns and arches make it one of the most visited spot for tourists and localities as well.

Time duration: 1 hour – 1.5 hours

Mode of Transport: Auto or OLA/UBER; hardly takes 10 minutes.

After the visual treat, you head for some knowledge session at the Government Museum and Art Gallery, 500 meters from Rose Garden.

The museum holds immense historical significance. The artefacts, sculptures, paintings and other collections are from undivided India. These were held in Lahore before partition and are now displayed here.

Time duration: 1 hour – 1.5 hours

Mode of Transport: 5-minute walk

For lunch, Sector-9C or Sector-8B are the places to be which is at a distance of 1.5 km from the museum.

These markets have respective food courts. Amritsari Kulcha Hub is pretty well known at Sector 9C and the price range is Rs. 300 – 400 for two.

At Sector 8B, you can try Uncle’s Jack. The price range at this outlet is Rs. 600 – 700 for two.

Two Landmarks of Chandigarh

02:00 PM – 07:00 PM

After putting your hunger to rest, you head towards the iconic and legendary Nek Chand’s Rock Garden, just 2 km from the markets.

The garden is number 1 attraction in Chandigarh and is visited by more than 4000 people daily. The inception of the garden came from putting waste materials into good use using the creator’s imagination and creativity. The garden sets you on an artistic journey.

Next attraction is just a few steps away from the Rock Garden and a perfect place to spend evening – Sukhna Lake

Mornings and evenings are the busiest hours here. Walkers, joggers and runners prefer this spot over any other. For tourists, the lake happens to be an ideal place to wind up a long day. Boating, joy-rides, souvenir shops and fast food joints keep you engaged.

Time duration: 1.5 hour – 2 hours

Mode of Transport: 15-minute walk

That will be it for the day and you head for your hotel.
